Here’s what is common between Bipasha Basu’s Raaz and Emraan Hashmi’s Raaz Reboot

September 16 sees the release of fourth installment in the super hit horror franchise Raaz Reboot. The film is touted to bring back Emraan Hashmi on the road to success. Despite featuring in films with different genre and earning critical acclaim, he hasn’t seen success and his last hit was the prequel to this film Raaz 3, back in 2012. While everyone’s waiting for the movie to release, one wonders about the weird title for a film, which could’ve easily been called Raaz 4, may be.

So here’s my analogy why the movie may be titled as Raaz Reboot and how it may be an actual reboot of 2002 Bipasha Basu blockbuster Raaz.

First let’s take a look at the storyline of Raaz. The film had the lead pair of Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea, who move to Ooty to save their failed marriage. But Bipasha’s character realises about the supernatural powers that involved her husband’s secretive past. She then takes help from Professor (Ashutosh Rana) to fight the evil spirit and save her husband.

Raaz Reboot on the other hand, looks like the story of a couple played by newbie Kriti Kharbanda and one film old Gaurav Arora. The couple moves to Transylvania and soon she realises something suspicious about her husband’s past. Emraan Hashmi is playing her ex lover who comes to her aid and helps her fight supernatural forces.

Here Bipasha’s character is similar to that of Kriti’s, Dino’s is similar to that of Gaurav’s and Ashutosh’s is similar to that of Emraan’s. Only difference here is Ashutosh Rana’s character was just a professor in Ooty who helped Bipasha Basu but here they have added the extra layer to Emraan’s character by making him the ex-boyfriend of female lead.

Hence, the movie is titled Raaz Reboot

P.S- This is just based on my analogy of Raaz (2002) and various trailers of Raaz Reboot (2016). Actual movie may or may not be different from the 2002 blockbuster. But keeping in mind the success it was, I won’t blame the makers if they remake their own successful film. Anyway that has been the trend in the industry.
